Since leaving school I have pursued my ambition to work with dogs and I eventually set up my own business 'Wags and Woofs Dog Services' in July 2023.

I am Emergency First Aid trained, studying with Tillycroy services in Westhill.

I then studied with iPet to gain a Level 3 Award in Dog Walking and Pet Sitting for Professionals.

My next step was to train as a dog groomer under the instruction of Denise McGlennon, an International Master Groomer based in Falkirk. Finally gaining an iPet Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming and Salon Management.

Continually enhancing my knowledge ultimately benefits my clients, so I have also completed diplomas in:

- Canine Holistic Health and Therapy,

- Canine Massage.

I offer a range of dog walking options, either ad hoc or regular. Most walks are for a full hour, but I can also do longer or shorter walks if required.

Dogs can be walked solo or with another sociable dog. On lead or off lead depends on their recall and basic training.

I wash and groom dogs in my own groom room here in Banchory, Aberdeenshire. So whether your pooch just needs a freshen up, a tidy up or a full groom, I can help. I am also trained in ultrasonic teeth cleaning.

I strongly encourage trying my popular puppy introduction visits so they can get used to the grooming environment.

I pet sit cats or dogs in the comfort of their own home, either as a pop in service, a full evening or occasionally overnight.

So maybe you have a puppy and have a night out, or you work shifts and need me to feed the cats or let the dogs out in the evening.

A hydrobath gives a superior, deep cleaning bathing experience for dogs. It uses a pressurised mix of water and shampoo (adjustable) which penetrates deeply in to thick or double coats, massaging muscles to improve circulation, reducing groom time and effectively removing dirt and skin debris.

After a really good wash and quick blow dry, some dogs are fluff dried, depends on their coat. This technique is absolutely vital, and uses low heated air to help straighten the hair by brushing up to detangle and lift, ready for the groom.

I try hard to create a calm and positive environment. 'Remain boring' was what I was taught, because this keeps the dog calm.

Using the correct blade in the correct manner ensures that a coat is groomed smoothly, avoiding scissor lines and allowing areas to blend in.
